Guidry Hotel

Guidry Hotel

$195.00

When I was a young boy in Church Point, I remember the old" Hargroder". hotel on the corner of Eby and Main. It was owned by Mr. M. A. Hargroder until It was torn down. However, it was built by Mr. Pierre Guidry and his wife Ernestine, daughter of Ernest Daigle, in 1908 and kept up by the Guidry family for many years. It was a popular place for traveling salesmen (drummers, as they were known then) and over-night visitors. It was also a place where some out-of-town school teachers lived. The small building on the right of the hotel was "Pelot" Lavergne's barber shop. When the old hotel was torn down, Mr. Pelot moved his barber shop closer down town.
